Happy Easter – Welcome to my table!
Where has the time gone, its already EASTER!! This holiday has really crept up on me this year but the good news is warm, sunny days are ahead and we can leave the cold weather behind us. YAY!! Many people think you need to be a designer or spend tons of money to set a beautiful table but this isn’t true. Setting a nice table creates an experience for your guests and a conversation starter when hosting an event. If you have never decorated for a holiday or event, Easter is a great time to experiment. The light, bright colours, fun bunny and egg inspired decor accents, fresh flowers, and the first signs Spring has sprung all create such a welcoming and fun atmosphere, perfect for entertaining. Easter is one of my favourite holidays and by far the best time of year to decorate with colour! In my house, this is the only time of year my husband finds pink an acceptable accent colour so I play it up to the fullest to get all pink out of my system for the entire year. He is always so thrilled lol! The best tips I have for creating a beautiful, fun and inviting Easter table your guests will remember are:
What better way to transition into Spring then brightening up a room with colour. Spring is the time for pastels and light, bright, vibrant colour palettes. On my Easter table I have a mix of pinks and blues with hints of white mixed with gold. To tie it all together I add fresh flowers and fun Easter inspired decor pieces. Repeating colours and accents around your table creates rhythm and movement, allowing your eye to move around a design in a pleasing manner.
Layering is key. When you stack pretty dishes whether they are expensive or not in combination with your other complimenting decor elements, it adds texture and depth to your table. The way the textures relate to each other establishes the level of informality or formality you are looking to achieve. Table cloths with placemats and/or charger plates with napkins, to flowers and candles, layering these elements creates visual interest and is sure to be a conversation starter for your family and friends.
Oh the beautiful smell and emotion felt when looking at a gorgeous bouquet of fresh flowers might just be the way to my heart. Spring flowers are my absolute favourite and make for a beautiful centrepiece. Use these to brighten up the space and bring life to your table. A simple trick if you are using tulips is to place a penny in the bottom of the vase to keep the bulbs standing up and looking brand new for days on end!
Decor accents and TREATS:
Would it really be a true holiday without goodies? Aside from my kiddies being really excited about extra candy, I use fun easter themed treats to welcome my family and guests to our table. Whatever the holiday may be, use decor accents that fit the occasion such as seasonal florals, nests, egg and bunny figures and small candles placed around the table. As I mentioned previously, this doesn’t need to be expensive if you use a little creativity. Many of the items in the pictures provided of my Easter place settings are from the Dollar Store, Walmart or hand made from clearance items found around Michael’s. A little thrift and a crafty imagination will be sure to cut on costs.
Wishing you all a very happy Easter!!
